Close lightning strikes on Memorial Day
On Memorial Day a very wimpy monsoon blew in during the day.That was odd, because the monsoons usually come in at sundown or in the night.
Also there were a lot of wimpy lightning strikes near me.
Many of the strikes I saw and heard were less then a half mile away, some less then a fourth of a mile away.
It takes 5 seconds for the thunder from a lightning strike to travel a mile.
So you can calculate how far away lightning is by counting the seconds from the time you see the lightning bolt until you hear the thunder.
For every 5 seconds you count, the lightning is one mile away.
Also while I was sleeping out in the desert a couple of days before Memorial Day there were also a few close lightning strikes.
Saturn is out in the early morning
The last couple of days I have been noticing that Saturn is visible in the early morning hours when it is still dark out.The first day Saturn was lined up with the moon and looked really cool.
When Venus isn't out, Saturn will be the brightest star in the sky.
Metro Center going down the tubes???
I went to Metro Center yesterday. It seems to be going down the tubes and is now a third rate mall.That is despite the recent remodeling they did to Metro Center.
Half of the stores were empty.
Two of the anchor tenant stores were empty.
The good news is that the Latino stores are taking over the mall.
There was a "Joyeria Del Pueblo" which is a jewelry store.
Also there was a huge store for quinceañeros which was also called "Quinceañero".
In Mexico when a girl turns 15 years old they make a big deal out of it and have parties and stuff like that. And that is what quinceañeros are all about. Quinceañero means 15 years in Spanish. Quince is 15 and año is year.

Two men file lawsuit over medical marijuana

PHOENIX — Two Arizona men are arguing that a 2010 voter-approved measure designed to attack the federal Affordable Care Act gives them a constitutional right to grow their own medical marijuana.
Keith Floyd and Daniel Cassidy contend in a lawsuit filed in Maricopa County Superior Court that the state cannot require that medical marijuana recipients can obtain their drug only from a dispensary if they live within 25 miles of any of the state’s licensed facilities. Their attorney, Michael Walz, argues that requirement runs afoul of language now in the Arizona Constitution which prohibits any law that requires anyone to “participate in any health care system.”
Walz said it’s a matter of free choice.
A ruling in his favor could have broad effects.
Most immediately, it would mean that the approximately 95 percent 40,000 medical marijuana cardholders who now live near a dispensary would not need to pay the $250 an ounce — or more — now being charged by dispensaries.
Instead, they could grow up to 12 plants for their own use right at home.
It also could undermine the financial plans of those who have invested thousands of dollars to get one of the limited number of dispensary licenses the state is granting, and many times more than that to set up shop. [I suspect many of these people were counting on having a government issued monopoly to make big bucks off of selling marijuana at black market prices to a captive audience that can't legally purchase it else where. If marijuana is totally legalized and the free market is allowed to govern sales you should be able to a pound of pot for less then a pound of tomatoes at your local Fry's or Safeway!]
But Walz said patients should have that right. More to the point, he said it’s constitutionally guaranteed.
His ammunition is Proposition 106. That measure put a provision into the Arizona Constitution overriding any law, rule or regulation that requires individuals or employers to participate in any particular health-care system.
Sponsors said it was aimed directly at the plan Congress enacted requiring individuals to obtain health coverage or pay a fine. But Walz said the language is broad enough to cover what his clients want.
The Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, also approved by voters in 2010, allows those with a doctor’s recommendation to obtain up to 2 1/2 ounces of marijuana every two weeks. The idea was to have that sold through state-regulated dispensaries. [i.e. government monopolies which charge black market prices]
But the law also provided an exception for anyone living at least 25 miles from such an outlet, with cardholders allowed to grow up to 12 plants at any one time.
With no dispensaries until this year, both men initially had been granted the right to grow. But that was rescinded by the state Department of Health Services when they renewed their medical marijuana user cards.
Walz contends that move is illegal in light of the constitutional amendment.
“The state does have a reasonable right to regulate medicine,” he said. “It’s just that they can’t compel citizens to go to one particular system or one particular outlet for the medications that they’re legally entitled to.”
State Health Director Will Humble said he’s simply enforcing the law as approved by voters.

But Humble said he doubts that the constitutional provision can be interpreted to let people make their own regulated medications.
“Are people allowed to grow their own amoxicillin?” he asked, referring to the antibiotic that now is available only by prescription — and only through a state-regulated pharmacy. “I mean, this is medication.” [Why yes they are!!! Last time I checked it was legal to have moldy oranges peels with amoxicillin molds growing on it.]
Walz, however, insists this is different.
“You’re dealing with a plant,” he said.
“Should those be regulated as much as pharmaceutical drugs?” Walz continued. “I would say probably not.”
He said it would be no different if the state were to ban people from growing their own aloe plants used by some to treat burns and instead require Arizonans to buy aloe lotion from a local pharmacy “with God-knows what preservatives in it.”
Multiple dispensaries have been licensed for the state’s largest urban areas.
But residents of some communities will not have the luxury of shopping around for the best deal. For example, the state has allocated only one dispensary for Lake Havasu City, though there always is the option to drive to Kingman, Bullhead City — or even Flagstaff or Phoenix.
Humble said, though, it makes sense to have most medical marijuana users obtaining their drugs through a state-regulated system of growers and dispensaries rather than an unregulated system of individuals growing their own.
[Of course it makes sense to Will Humble who is a government bureaucrat who will benefit from the silly law. Or at least Will Humble's empire at ADHS will benefit from it.]
That system requires those with licenses to account for what they have grown or sold. Humble said there is no way to determine whether home-grown marijuana is being diverted to some use beyond that of the cardholder.
“We were really clear-headed about putting regulations together that prevented diversion and theft,” he said.
“That’s why the inventory controls are so tight,” Humble continued. “You tell me what the inventory controls are in somebody’s house who’s got 12 plants?”
Ryan Hurley, an attorney who represents dispensary owners, said he does not believe the lawsuit has any merit. [So I guess the dispensary owners do want to keep their government issued monopolies that allow them to sell marijuana at outrageously high black market prices to medical marijuana patients]
And Hurley said he doubts there would be much loss of business for dispensaries even if Walz were to get a judge to decide in favor of his clients. He said most cardholders will find it more convenient to buy the ready-to-use weed from a dispensary than go through the hassle of nurturing a mature plant from seeds. [Then why are the dispensary owners paying Ryan Hurley big bucks to shoot down the lawsuit that will end their monopolies???]
“It’s legal to brew your own beer in this country, but very few people actually do it,” Hurley said. Anyway, he said, it’s not really easy to grow the plant, “especially high-quality cannabis, particularly if you’re old, elderly or very sick.” [Wow! Isn't that shoveling the BS. Marijuana is a stinking weed that even a person with a black thumb can grow!!!!]
Morgan Fox, spokesman for the Marijuana Policy Project that crafted the Arizona initiative, said that 25-mile rule was intentional, even if it does limit patients in many areas to getting their drugs from dispensaries. [I have often wonder if Prop 203 was written with the 25 mile limit to create monopolies for the people behind the law.]
He said that in most urban areas there will be several choices. “And there will be no problems with neighbors complaining about patients growing medicine in their neighborhoods.” [from that statement it sounds like the Marijuana Policy Project favors keeping the silly 25 mile limit???]

Monday - Sept 9 - More rain
Well the good news was I didn't get rained on last night when I was sleeping.The bad news is it started raining early this morning and has been raining since then.
The timing of the rain is real odd too.
In the Phoenix area the summer monsoons usually come in the afternoon after 6 pm.
Oddly Sundays rain and Mondays rain came in the day time.

Monday’s extremely wet weather caused havoc in the Valley, shutting some highways, flooding many yards and roads and contributing to dozens of car crashes.
The National Weather Service reported that the tropical-storm bolstered rainfall was drenching many parts of the Phoenix region, but was hitting the East Valley the hardest.
The rain created a 10 to 15-foot deep pond on one south Gilbert-area yard. More than 20 minor accidents were reported on the U.S. 60.
The storm knocked down a huge saguaro cactus onto the road in the 300 block of North Lakeshore Drive in Chandler. City officials said crews hoped to clear it by 3:30 p.m.
Car tires spewed plumes of water near Bell Road and 43rd Avenue in Phoenix. At least one vehicle had to be pushed from the road.
Heavy flooding was reported at Deer Valley Airport, Deer Valley Road at I-17 and the area of 19th Avenue and Rose Garden Lane in Phoenix.
At least 1,000 homes had been without power in parts of Glendale and Peoria. Crews were working to restore service as they investigated the cause of the outage.
The rain was so heavy that exit ramps from Interstate 17 to Greenway Road were closed. Mesa police closed Broadway Road near Sossaman Road.
In Glendale, police officers urged motorists to avoid avoid the areas between Thunderbird and Bell and 51st and 67th avenues. Intermittent flooding contributed to several car crashes.
Despite some breaks in the rain and brief periods of sunshine, the rainfall was expected to continue into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologists predicted the chance of rain will dwindle through the week and that temperatures will climb to the triple digits again by Thursday.
By early afternoon Monday, some Mesa and Queen Creek neighborhoods had been deluged with up to 1.5 inches of rain. The East Valley was getting the most rain after getting hit hard by a similar storm Sunday.
The weather service issued an urban stream flooding advisory from Casa Grande to parts of Cave Creek and Carefree, said meteorologist Hector Vasquez .
Carrick Cook, a spokesman for the Department of Public Safety said the best thing for drivers on area freeways to do is avoid driving in areas with standing water.
The showers are a product of tropical storm Lorena that hit Mexico and parts of California. The storm has brought moisture to the Valley and residents should expect showers throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast highs for the week are 90 degrees on Tuesday, 95 degrees on Wednesday, 99 degrees on Thursday and 100 on Friday. Vasquez said the normal daily high for this time of year is 102 degrees.

But again the cops don't want to let the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act get in the
way of their "War on Drugs" jobs program and are arresting medical marijuana patients
who are stone cold sober and driving, simply because they have marijuana metabolites
in their body.
This sure supports my rant that you almost certainly will not
get a fair trial if you are innocent and arrested for a crime you
didn't do.
I suspect the Arizona Republic is censoring the comic strip because
it makes the Homeland Security goons look like a bunch of criminals.
About two weeks ago the strip started off with the company that Dilbert works
for having a computer crash and losing all their backup files.

Today, I took a bath in the canal and I froze to death it was so cold.When I read the newspaper the temperature for the rest of the week is projected to be under 100°F for the rest of the week.
Man it looks like winter is coming to Arizona early this year.

The DEA, CIA, FBI and NSA were reading my email
Several times in the past when I was reading my email I got messages saying that my session was disconnected because my email was being read at another IP address.Of course I was paranoid and wonder was someone else really reading my email.
Of course my first guess was that it was one of my enemies like David Dorn.
And of course the second guess was that it was the government.
Of course now after Edward Snowden released his information that the government was spying on it that I realized that the government probably was involved with illegally reading my emails several times.
I also wondered why on Earth government would waste their time cracking my passwords.
Well again from the recently released information about government spying it turns out that the government wasn't cracking my passwords.
The NSA was simply twisting the arms of Google and Yahoo and getting them to give the government the passwords and email addresses of people the government considers to be criminals like me.
Of course the government's definition of a criminal seems to be any body that "thinks they have Constitutional rights" or anybody that expects the government to obey it's own laws.
And I guess by those definitions I am a criminal because I do think I have "Constitutional Rights" and I do expect the government to obey it's laws.
Of course I an not a criminal by the standards most normal people think of criminals being.
I don't steal stuff. I don't vandalize stuff. I don't destroy property.

PHOENIX -- Police cannot use the state's traffic laws to draw blood from suspected drunk drivers without a warrant absent their specific permission at the time of the test, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled Thursday.
In a unanimous decision, the justices rejected the contention by the Pima County Attorney's Office that all Arizona motorists give "implied consent" to having blood, breath or urine tests as a condition to be licensed to drive. They said that means, absent a clear -- and voluntary -- consent immediately prior to the blood draw, it is an illegal search without a warrant.
In a wide-ranging ruling, the high court also said that the ability of juveniles to give that voluntary consent is not absolute -- and not the same as an adult. Justice Scott Bales, writing for the court, said a trial judge must consider all the factors, including the age of the suspect and the failure to notify parents.
But the justices refused to rule that the absence of a juvenile's parents automatically means any consent is not voluntary.
Thursday's ruling most immediately means that charges of driving under the influence of drugs will be dropped against the youth, identified in court records only as Tyler B. because he was 16 at the time of the arrest.
But he is not out of the legal woods yet. Deputy County Attorney Nicolette Kneut said Tyler, who has since turned 18, still faces charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in justice court as an adult.
Pima County Attorney Barbara LaWall said Thursday's ruling will complicate the job that police statewide are required to do. She said the high court has provided no guidance.
"How is the officer supposed to know whether or not it's been an express consent," she said. "It just makes it really, really tough because there isn't any bright line." [Duh, the 4th Amendment you idiot!!!!]
LaWall said the ruling means that her office will advise police to get a court-ordered warrant whenever possible before drawing blood, even when a motorist -- and now, especially a juvenile -- gives approval for a blood draw. That, she said, eliminates any possibility of having that consent later ruled involuntary.
According to court records, Tyler and two friends arrived late to school. A school monitor smelled marijuana on the boys and also saw drug paraphernalia in Tyler's car.
The boys were detained in separate rooms while sheriff's deputies were contacted.
A deputy read Tyler his Miranda warnings against self-incrimination and the right to an attorney. But the court files said that Tyler, in the presence of several school officials, admitted he had driven his car to school after smoking marijuana and that he owned some of the paraphernalia in the car.
When the deputy placed Tyler under arrested, the youth became agitated and was placed in handcuffs while the deputy retrieved a blood-draw kit from his car.
On returning, he saw Tyler had calmed down and he removed the cuffs. He then read Tyler from the law which says that Arizona motorists must consent to blood or other tests and that refusal will result in automatic suspension of driving privileges.
Tyler agreed verbally and in writing to the blood draw. But when the case went to court, Tyler argued his consent was not voluntary and that, as a minor, he lacked capacity to consent.
When the court commissioner agreed and suppressed the evidence, the Supreme Court agreed to hear the case. Bales said the issue has never been decided in Arizona.
Bales rejected arguments by prosecutors that "implied consent" law means there is no need to determine whether a consent at the time of the blood draw is voluntary.
"A compelled blood draw, even when administered pursuant to (the implied consent law) is a search subject to the Fourth Amendment's constraints," he wrote for the court. "Such an invasion of bodily integrity implicates an individual's most personal and deep-rooted expectations of privacy."
He said the law says only that an officer must ask a suspect to submit to the test -- and that if a person refuses, a warrant is needed and the suspect's licenses is suspended.
Bales said a motorist can allow a warrantless search "provided the consent is voluntary." But that, he said has to be decided by a court based on all the circumstances, including the suspect's age -- and even whether a parent is present.
In this case, Bales wrote, the court commissioner was correct in ruling that, based on the evidence she had, Tyler's consent was not voluntary.
He said Tyler was detained for about two hours in a room in the presence of school officials and a deputy, without his parents.
"Tyler initially was shaking and visibly nervous," Bales wrote, and placed in handcuffs until he calmed down. And he said that the law read to him about "implied consent" ended with the statement, "You are, therefore, required to submit to the specified tests."
It was only then, Bales said, Tyler consented to the blood draw.
Thursday's ruling drew a special comment from Justice John Pelander. He said his own review of the evidence leads him to believe Tyler did voluntarily consent.
But Pelander said Arizona law requires he and the other justices not to reweigh the evidence but only to consider whether the court commissioner abused her discretion in suppressing the evidence.

1) They have passed several laws that require you report crimes and dead bodies. Sue over them. Those laws are almost certainly a violation of the 5th Amendment (self incrimination) and 13th Amendment (slavery).2) The law requiring taxi drivers to take drug tests. Despite Prop 203 which says in ARS 36-2802 that medical marijuana patients can't be busted for DUI because of marijuana metabolites in their system, the cops are arresting medical marijuana patients for DUI per ARS 28-1381
But Prop 203 which is Arizona's medical marijuana law in ARS 36-2802.D, clearly says if you are a medical marijuana patient you can not be arrested for DUI because you have marijuana metabolites in you body:
ARS 36-2802.D Operating, navigating or being in actual physical control of any motor vehicle, aircraft or motorboat while under the influence of marijuana, except that a registered qualifying patient shall not be considered to be under the influence of marijuana solely because of the presence of metabolites or components of marijuana that appear in insufficient concentration to cause impairment.
3) Law that limits light rail fare to 5 cents or is that 25 cents or a quarter.

At this web site they will use the GPS metatags embedded in you photos to tell you the location that your photo was shot at.Most modern cell phones will allow you to record the location of any photos you shoot by embedding meta tags which contain the GPS location the photo was shot in the photo's files.
Will some people, like those phony baloney libertarians, David, Ernie and Mike will accuse me of giving this information to the cops, I am sure the cops already have this information and know how to extract the GPS information from you photos.
A few months back software billionaire John McAfee made the news on this issue when he was a fugitive and was releasing photos to the media.
Some hacker took the photos and extracted the GPS information and determined that John McAfee was lying about the location he claimed the photos were shot at.
